Jabal Al Ma’rifa International School and Middle East College Formalise New Educational Collaboration

Jabal Al Ma’rifa International School (JMI) is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Middle East College (MEC), formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 23 September 2026.

The agreement marks an important step in strengthening connections between school and higher education, creating new opportunities to enrich the learning experiences available to JMI students.

Following several weeks of discussions between both institutions, the MoU establishes a framework for collaboration across two key areas: education and facility usage.

Creating New Learning Opportunities

At the heart of the collaboration is a shared commitment to expanding learning beyond the traditional classroom.

JMI and Middle East College will explore opportunities for students to engage with college-level fields and expertise, with areas of interest including Information Technology, robotics, coding, science and sport.

Through future workshops, activities, presentations and collaborative learning opportunities, JMI students will have the chance to experience new disciplines, interact with specialists and gain greater insight into how their learning can connect with future academic and professional pathways.

The collaboration reflects JMI’s belief that curiosity and ambition should not be limited by age. By providing students with appropriate opportunities to explore advanced concepts, the school aims to encourage them to think beyond the curriculum and develop the confidence to pursue their interests further.

Building Pathways to Higher Education

The partnership will also help strengthen pathways for JMI students as they progress towards graduation and higher education.

Middle East College is an established higher education institution in Oman offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across a range of disciplines, including programmes connected with UK higher education.

As part of the agreement, JMI graduates will be encouraged to explore the degree programmes available at MEC and will have access to preferential fees and other benefits associated with the collaboration.

This provides another valuable pathway for JMI students as they begin making important decisions about university, further study and their future careers.

Sharing Facilities, Knowledge and Experiences

The MoU also establishes opportunities for greater collaboration through the use of facilities and participation in events across both institutions.

JMI students will have opportunities to attend selected events, presentations and educational activities hosted by Middle East College, allowing them to experience learning within a higher education environment alongside university students and professionals.

Similarly, the agreement creates opportunities for both institutions to make use of each other’s facilities where appropriate, further strengthening the relationship between the JMI and MEC communities.

Looking Ahead

The signing of the MoU represents the beginning of what JMI hopes will become a dynamic and meaningful long-term collaboration.

Teams from JMI and Middle East College will now work together to identify specific programmes, activities and learning opportunities that can directly benefit students.

As these initiatives develop, JMI looks forward to sharing further updates with families and the wider school community.

At Jabal Al Ma’rifa International School, we remain committed to creating opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom, broaden our students’ horizons and help prepare them for the possibilities of higher education and the world beyond school.

Bright Minds. Brighter Futures.
